Goals and Mission

Mustard Seed Kids – Goals for 2004-05

 Learning:

  • All Mustard Seed Kids (PreK-1st) have been through questions 1-15 and 46-60 in Belonging to God, during one session per month. Children have been given the opportunity to memorize these questions from the catechism; recognition  offered for completing this task.
  • All MSK have learned the Lord’s Prayer, Doxology, and Gloria Patri.
  • All MSK have learned 3 songs (to be determined) that teach scripture verses (e.g. This is the Day that the Lord has made, Rejoice in the Lord Always, etc). Participate in these as a regular part of session time. (sing in worship?)
  • Learn about baptism as the church’s infants are presented for the sacrament – create a special card for each of them.

 Service:

  • All MSK learn about the church’s shut-ins, provides ministry to them through cards, crafts & goodies, caroling.
  • All MSK greet the new babies of the church as they are born by sending a special card.
  • Any MSK who would like to participate in the Read to Feed program may do so along with Noah’s Crew.
  • Participate in larger-church service opportunities, such as Dimes for Hunger, Souper Bowl of Caring, Young at Hearts dinner, etc.

Worship:

  • All MSK participates in 5:30 worship services by sharing music, art,  prayers, etc. gleaned from their studies. Participate in some way in the 4th Sunday service each month.

Fellowship:

  • All MSK participates in some event (recreation or outing) on the 2nd Sat/Sunday of most months. The goal of these outings is to promote friendships and fun in a safe environment, and to provide special opportunities for kids to invite their friends to a fun church event.
  • Special outings for Mustard Seed Kids include: Cotton Hills Farm, Christmas caroling, a visit to the zoo
