Mission Statement
The Bethesda Presbyterian Child Development Center operates as a ministry of Bethesda Presbyterian Church of York County, Inc. We strive to provide a secure, safe, and wholesome Christian environment in which each child can grow socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually at his/her own rate of development. A variety of curricula and activities, designed to meet he needs of each particular group of children as well as the specific needs of each child, is used.
About the CDC
The Child Development Center is one of
Bethesda’s outstanding outreach programs.
The Child Development Center opened its doors on August 24, 1992, with an
enrollment of nine children and four staff members.
Almost ten years later, the CDC has an average enrollment of 90 children
and 12 full-time staff and four to six part-time employees.
The CDC is a registered Day Care Center with the Department of Social
Services of South Carolina. Our
staff is required to have 15 hours of continuing education per year, as well as
training for CPR and First Aid. Our
Director and Asst. Director are required to have 20 hours of continuing
education per year. 7 of our
full-time staff are Credited Early Child-Care Teachers.
The CDC operates as a ministry of Bethesda Presbyterian
Church with a Director and Assistant Director with support by a Child
Development Council made up 2 Session members, 2 parents of children of the
daycare, 2 at large church members, and the daycare director. This council is a Sessional Committee of the church.
The center operates as non-profit.
We strive to provide a secure, safe, and wholesome Christian environment
where each child can grown socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually,
and spiritually at his/her own rate of development.
A variety of curricula and activities, designed to meet the needs of each
particular group of children as well as the specific needs of each child are
used.
The center accepts children with no discrimination on the basis of sex,
race, religion, or national origin. Children
with handicapping conditions will be individually evaluated for possible
enrollment. Names are placed on a waiting list by date of application,
with priority going first to children of active members of Bethesda Presbyterian
Church, and secondly to children who have siblings presently enrolled in the
program. Opportunity for
registration in the Summer Camp program is offered first to those presently
enrolled in the after-school program, secondly to those who have siblings
presently enrolled in the day care program, thirdly to those who are children of
active members of Bethesda, and fourthly to those who may have attended in years
past. If any spaces are left,
registration will be opened to the general public.
Classes are offered for infants, toddlers, two-year-olds, three-year-olds, and four-year-olds (4K). There is also offered an after-school program beginning with 5K and not to exceed 11 years of age. A Summer Day Camp program is offering beginning with children who have completed 5K and not to exceed 11 years of age.
